I wanted to create a book about my work, one that would be exactly as I wanted it. Right down to the last full stop.
I was unable to get a subsidy for it because I refused to include any texts about my work.
The bequest my father left me solved the problem. I asked Swip Stolk to develop the book jointly with me.
Using Tom Haartsen’s photos and the digital possibilities and techniques in which Swip is a master.
There are transparent sheets included between certain pages because silver has been used in the printing ink in order to reinforce the metallic effect.
HOMO VAPOR EST, “Man is but air”. My father’s gravestone, that I designed myself, figures – by way of thanks – on the back cover of the book.
